Past Presidents

The Monroe Professional Engineers Society has had the privilege to enjoy the leadership of many esteemed members of the local engineering community.  Listed below are the men and women who have volunteered their time and talents to serve as president of our organization.  For their dedication and service to the principles of the engineering profession, they have our heartfelt gratitude.

William J. Grove, P.E.
Bill earned his B.S in Environmental Resource Engineering from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Bill is the Principal Engineer at Grove Engineering. Prior to establishing Grove Engineering PLLC, Bill worked for the City of Geneva for seven years.

Michael O. Ritchie, P.E. (2020-2022)
Mr. Ritchie earned his bachelor of science in Civil Engineering Technology in 2009. Since that time he has worked at Costich Engineering, where he currently holds the position of Vice President.

Christopher V. Kambar, P.E. (2018 – 2020)
Mr. Kambar earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science for Civil Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology.  He has over 20 years’ experience in Civil Site Design.  Mr. Kambar is currently an Owner at APD Engineering & Architecture, specializing in Site Planning, Design, and Approvals.

David C. Roberts, P.E. (2016 – 2018)
Mr. Roberts holds a bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a Master of Science in Product Development, both from Rochester Institute of Technology.  He currently teaches at both FLCC and RIT, as well working in the fields of Machine Design, Forensics, and Accident Reconstruction.

Christopher R. Devries, P.E. (2015 – 2016)
A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering Technology Program, Mr. Devries has been an active member of MPES since 2010. With over 20 years of experience in the engineering profession, he currently holds the position of Lead Mechanical Engineer at Micro Instrument Corp.

Joseph Dombrowski, P.E. L.C. (2014 – 2015)
Mr. Dombrowski earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from SUNY/Buffalo in 1979. He joined the MPES Board of Directors in 2010 and serves on a number of committees including the scholarship committee and the Engineering Symposium committee. An active member of the engineering community in the local area, Mr. Dombrowski is active in several related engineering societies such as RES, EAWNY, and PIE. A licensed engineer for over 25 years, Mr. Dombrowski currently holds the position of Senior Engineer at M/E Engineering, P.C.

Dan Curry, P.E. (2013 – 2014)
A graduate of the Chemical Engineering Program at the University of Colorado Boulder, Mr. Curry is currently a Process Engineer PE at Optimation Technology. He holds an MBA from the University of Rochester and is highly skilled in the areas of Engineering Management, Process Engineering, Cross-functional Team Leadership, and Six Sigma.

Tim Webber, P.E. (2012-2013)
A graduate of the Civil Engineering Program at Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Webber has over 20 years of technical and managerial experience in the field of civil engineering. From 2007 to 2017, Mr. Webber actively supported MPES both at the director level and in various officer positions for the chapter. Mr. Webber currently holds the position of Site Group Manager/Civil Engineer at LaBella Associates, P.C.

David P. Lindsay, P.E. (2011 – 2012)
A graduate of the Civil Engineering Program at Rochester Institute of Technology, Mr. Lindsay is currently the Commissioner of Public Works/Superintendent of Highways for the Town of Chili.

Melissa L. Quinn, P.E. (2010 – 2011)
Ms. Quinn holds a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University. She is currently the Project Management Coordinator at Home Leasing LLC and Home Leasing Services LLC

Chris Ramsey, P.E. (2009 – 2010)
Mr. Ramsey obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. With extensive research and expertise in applied fluid mechanics, mixing, and heat transfer, his employment history includes Westinghouse Savannah River Company and Pfaudler USA.

Robert K. Winans, P.E. (2008 – 2009)
Mr. Winans is a Civil Engineer with over 30 years experience in land development including stormwater management reports, storm water pollution prevention plans, transportation studies, water system analysis, sanitary sewer design, mass grading design and retaining wall system design. He has held various roles at both the state and local levels, including Chapter President of MPES and Area Vice-President of NYSSPE. He currently serves on the board of directors for MPES.

Mark R. Costich, P.E. (2007 – 2008)
Mr. Costich is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering program at the Rochester Institute of Technology and serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Costich Engineering, Land Surveying and Landscape Architecture, DPC. Mark worked to provide the membership with multiple continuing education programs as well as the early days of the Engineering Symposium. He is also a past president of the Rochester Chapter of ACEC New York and a
member of ASCE, APWA, MLSA and RHA.

Maureen Valentine, P.E. (2006 – 2007)
Ms. Valentine is a professor of Civil Engineering Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology. She holds a Master of Education from the University of Buffalo and a Master of Geotechnical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Ms. Valentine was instrumental in launching the Engineering Symposium in Rochester and served as the chairperson for the first 8 years

Barry Dumbauld, P.E. (2005 – 2006)
Mr. Dumbauld earned his Bachelor of Science from Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently employed as Transportation Department Manager at Hunt Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors. Mr. Dumbauld has been active in MPES for nearly 20 years. He currently serves on the board of directors and is a key member of the planning committee for the Engineering Symposium in Rochester.

Carl Eller, P.E. (2004 – 2005)
Mr. Eller holds a bachelor’s degree in Forest Engineering and a Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering. His professional roles have included Senior Project Manager at Cornerstone Environmental Group and Vice President at Fisher Associates. Mr. Eller has been an active member of MPES for many years and in addition to his role as president, has also served as secretary and board member. Along with Ms. Valentine, Mr. Eller was one of the key orchestrators involved with launching the Engineering Symposium in Rochester. He served as the Symposium’s PDH coordinator for several years and is still actively involved on the planning committee.

James Krapf, P.E. (2003 – 2004)
Mr. Krapf holds a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering and is currently employed as a Unit Manager at T.Y. Lin International. Past roles include Structural Engineer at T.Y. Lin and at Bergmann Associates.

Frederick Burgwardt, P.E. (2002 – 2003)
Mr. Burgwardt is a graduate of Clarkson University with a bachelor of science in Civil Engineering. He is currently employed as a Senior Project Engineer at Prudent Engineering, LLP. Previous to this role, he served as a Senior Civil Engineer at the New York State Department of Transportation for over 30 years. In addition to his time as president, Mr. Burgwardt served as the coordinator for the TEAMS event.

Anthony Borrelli, P.E. (2001 – 2002)
Mr. Borrelli has nearly 30 years experience in providing structural engineering solutions and project management for infrastructure clients in the transportation and in-land waterway sectors. He is a graduate of the University of Buffalo. Mr. Borrelli is a member of several local, state and national societies including; the National Steel Bridge Alliance, Design Build Institute of America, American Council of Consulting Engineers and the Association for Bridge Construction & Design.
