History

In 1914 the American Association of Engineers (AAE) was formed with a Charter to promote social and economic welfare of its members; develop public service by the engineer; increase engineering efficiency and raise the plane of the profession; and provide a sound enduring medium for engineering unity. Shortly after the License Law was enacted a need for another society that would focus on the professional engineering movement was identified.On April 7, 1926, 14 licensed engineers and surveyors formed the New York State Society of Professional Engineers (NYSSPE). In 1929 The Monroe Professional Engineers Society (MPES), a local chapter of the NYSSPE was chartered.
